WELCOME TO YOUR JOURNEY TO HEALTH!
Welcome to the clinic of Dr. Stephanie Farwell, Naturopathic Doctor, Bowen Therapist and Reiki Master! I am very humbled to be asked to be a part of your healthcare journey.
What is Naturopathic Medicine?
Naturopathic medicine is a primary health care system that uses a more gentle approach combining past holistic wisdom, and current scientific knowledge, with natural therapies to encourage healing. It treats the person as a whole to uncover the underlying cause(s) of illness. Physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects are all taken into account when uncovering the underlying imbalance and long and short term treatment plans.
The primary therapies used by Naturopathic Doctors are: Holistic Nutrition, Herbal Medicine, Homeopathic Medicine, Lifestyle Counselling and Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Having studied Bowen Therapy separately for over 20 years, I have incorporated bodywork extensively in my practice (refer to the Bowen section of my website for more information on this amazing and effective body therapy).
What conditions can Naturopathic Medicine Address?
- Pain management and resolutions: such as low back and neck pain, sciatica, hip pain, arthritis
- Headaches and migraines
- Allergies and Environmental Illness
- Menstrual Irregularities, such as endometriosis, irregular periods, uterine fibroids
- Digestive Ailments (irritable bowel syndrome, food intolerance and sensitivities, constipation)
- Depression and Anxiety
- Skin (eczema and acne)
Do you need a referral? No, you do not need a referral to come to see me.
What to expect for your visit: Prior to your first visit, my Jane system will send you a welcome email. You can set up an account and fill out all of your required forms prior to your visit there: intake, consent and privacy forms. Bring in any supplements and medications that you are taking.
The initial visit will be one hour in length and will include a comprehensive medical history and will go over your particular health concerns, a physical exam and diagnostic testing will be covered. A short and long term plan will be devised during this visit to start your journey to health. Most follow-ups are 30 minutes in length and will go over your progress and tweak the treatment, or involve a type of bodywork if indicated in your intake, such as Bowen or acupuncture. I currently take Visa, MasterCard, Debit or Cash.
How often do I need to visit? This depends on your short and long term goals and individualised treatment plan. If your plan does not include bodywork, it will be dependent on goal time. For example, if you’re on a one month detox, I will follow up with you when you finish it to check in and outline the next step. If you are coming in for fertility treatment, it will include 2 acupuncture treatments per month (in relation to your menstrual cycle). If Bowen is indicated you will come in once a week for approximately 5-8 treatments, then maintenance as desired/needed usually every 2-3 months.
