Many women in my clinic come to me as they are suffering from dysmenorrhea, or painful periods.

There are many amazing tools that can help you to quickly start to fix any period issues and problems, such as dysmenorrhea.

Let’s list out my favourite 5:

  1. Magnesium! are you getting enough? Most women do not. Foods that contain high amounts of magnesium are: almonds, avocado and even dark chocolate!
  2. Herbal Medicine: many different herbs are effective in assisting in pain relief via muscle relaxation, such as crampbark!
  3. Movement: move the body! This allows for increased circulation and reduces stagnation in the body. It also assists in releasing the feel good endorphin hormones!
  4. Castor Oil Pack-castor oil packs, in my clinical experience, are one of the most effective tools one can use when used properly and at the right timing of the cycle. Please note, these are not to be used during your menstrual flow.
  5. Acupuncture: acupuncture is highly effective at relieving cramping and painful period symptoms as it relieves stagnation, and also aids in hormonal balance and regulation.
