CREATIVE HEALING

Most health blogs will discuss diet, various foods, exercises, supplements and various modalities. These are all essential components to one’s overall health pursuit. One topic rarely addressed is creativity. How can one express themselves in the world in creative ways allowing for energy to be used in productive and even nourishing ways. What the heck do I mean by that?

Energy in one’s life is expressed in various ways. Many understand that physical energy is feeling energetic, having the stamina to mentally get through the day, and being able to accomplish throughout the day what you want and need to get done. Another form of energy that you will be familiar with would be the emotions. Frustration, anger and even joy are important manifestations of the energy of one’s being. Many people that do healing work, or do inner work on themselves understand that emotions can be healing or even harmful to them! Suppressed emotional energy can show up as disease or illness in the body. An everyday example would be the simple cold. When a person becomes overwhelmed or overly stressed, their immune system becomes suppressed which can show up as a cold or flu.

Another energy that needs to be addressed is one’s creative energy. It is well understood in spiritual works that expressing and embracing creative energy within each of us is essential for true growth, expansion and holistic health. There are many different ways to express this energy: journaling, poetry, playing instruments, playing with your children, taking a dance class, DIY activities, even decorating your home! There are so many inspirational avenues that you can choose from, follow what interests you!

Though this idea may seem frivolous or silly, perhaps even a waste of time to some, it is a powerful avenue to allow for old energy and emotions to be expressed, released, and to bring more joy and beauty in your life. Relaxation, joy, fun and creativity are underestimated in their healing ability. These should all be daily goals, not yearly ones, like when one goes on vacation. They are not frivolous or unimportant, they are essential to one’s well-being, just as much as diet and exercise.

Remember, just because something seems simple does not mean that it is not the most powerful thing that you need to embrace in your life.

Express Yourself! And Heal!
